A new fairytale drama from Once upon a time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are about to come true.

ABC placed a pilot order on Friday for Epic, an hour-long drama that will reinvent classic Disney fairy tales for a new audience. Once upon a time scribe Brigitte Hales wrote the screenplay and will serve as an EP alongside Horowitz and Kitsis.

The Alphabet network also handed over a pilot order to Queens, a drama about four women in their 40s who come together for a chance to regain their fame and the swagger they had as’ 90s hip-hop group Nasty Bitches. Former Scandal Co-EP Zahir McGhee wrote the screenplay and will be an EP alongside Sabrina Wind (Desperate housewives).

The Epic The project, first announced in December 2019, was initially described as “a series of romantic anthologies set in the fairytale world of Disney and set in an enchanted Disney-style forest.” Sources previously told TVLine that the potential series – which is do not located in the Once upon a time universe – will feature all new characters and “new tours on classic archetypes”.
