Epic Games' audio designer has used Reddit to provide fans with an update on Fortnite-specific audio updates soon!

Epic Games audio developer Seth spoke to Reddit about the work of the Epic Games audio team at Fortnite following comments from fans of Update v8.0 and up.

Here's an overview of the new audio enhancements:

  • Improvement of the standard AR sound so that it is not invasive for the shooter.
    • The sound has been tightened, so it's more of a BLaaam than a BLAAAM.
  • The sound of destruction of building parts is stronger when it is triggered by enemies.
    • Helps mitigate scenarios in which "this guy, Hand Cannon, had a wall behind me and I did not hear him."
  • The pitch audio blends into the upper / lower layers rather than tilting sharply between them.
    • Prevents steep pitch transitions between floors directly above or below. This should clear up some confusion.
  • Pitch occlusion stems from the heads of enemies when they are above or below.
    • This helps to mitigate scenarios in which an enemy has a line of sight on you but his steps still seem smothered / obstructed.
  • Reduce the volume of the S8 umbrella.
    • This only concerns the layers of opening / closing the umbrella. Do not worry, the riff volume of the steel battery is preserved.

On Reddit, it was stated that improvements should come into play in the v8.01 update for Fortnite.

The developer also noted that the umbrella of season 8 producing no noise on Nintendo Switch will be corrected in the next update v8.01.
