Epic Games has asked Apple to reinstate its Fortnite developer account so that it can release the game in South Korea, following the passage of a bill that will require Apple and Google to allow apps to use alternative payment systems.

It’s unclear whether Apple will accept the request or if Epic’s intentions are genuine: after all, Epic used Apple’s responses to its previous requests to help trigger its original #FreeFortnite legal trap.
In August 2020, Apple launched Fortnite out of the App Store hours after Epic introduced a direct in-game payment system that bypassed Apple’s. Epic then sued Apple, triggering a controversial legal battle between the two companies. The case went to trial in May and we are still awaiting the verdict. All the time, Fortnite has not been on the App Store.
Apple did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
