December 3, 2020 A previous version of this article referred to Pillars of Eternity as Path of Exile. Yeah, I don’t know, man, PoE.

Another week has arrived, and that means another round of free PC games on the Epic Games Store. This week you can pick up the metroidvania indie classic, Cave Story +, and next week’s picks have a pair of terrific titles for fans of RPG games. Obsidian Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, along with each of their respective DLC packs, will be available for free claim starting next week.

Both Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition and Tyranny: Gold Edition can be claimed for free on the Epic Store promotion page on December 10 at 8:00 a.m. PST / 11:00 a.m. EST / 4:00 p.m. GMT. (You don’t have any other big RPGs to play on this date, do you?) The games will be available to claim until December 17th at the same time.

Pillars of Eternity is a traditional isometric RPG in the vein of Baldur’s Gate. You build a custom character, assemble a diverse group of companions, and race through strategic battles and mountains of dialogue text on a grand adventure. The Definitive Edition includes both White March DLC packs, plus any additional digital bonuses that come with various editions of the original game.

Tyranny is another classically styled RPG, but it puts you in a much meaner setting, where you’re willing to enforce the tyrannical rule of your evil lord. The Gold Edition includes the Bastard’s Wound story add-on, the Tales from the Tiers expansion, and many other digital bonuses.
