In what we can only assume, it’s a concerted effort to get the ‘COVID-19 vaccine crank’ steadily rising in its Wikipedia introductory paragraph –one day potentially eclipsing “the famous blues guitarist” and “”the musical equivalent of Andrew Lincoln’s character from Love in factIn his list of accomplishments — Eric Clapton has once again decided to let the world know what he thinks of the immunization requirements. Specifically, Clapton responded to possible new warrants (which are expected to come into effect in September) requiring audiences at UK shows present proof of vaccination, to declare that this will not happen in any of Eric Clapton’s shows, because he “will not perform on any stage where a discriminated audience is present. Unless there are arrangements for everyone to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.
And while we are always happy to hear Eric Clapton take a stand on “discrimination” which is not literally telling him immigrants to leave the country while muttering racial slurs, it’s always a very familiar tune that he plays here. We reported last month on several comments, Clapton had spread misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines, and even had the kindness to expose his own radicalization on the subject. (You’ll be shocked to learn that significant consumption of YouTube videos has been involved.) Clapton notably also spoke about his transition to the Telegram social media service, a favorite for people who would like to say things without fearing someone else. ‘one labels them as, say, dangerous disinformation that could get people killed. No coincidence, Clapton released his latest statement via the service, specifically via a letter sent and then published by anti-lockdown activist Robin Monotti Graziadei. “I feel compelled to make an announcement on my own, ”Clapton said of the proposed measures and, seriously: can anyone get a day off for Eric Clapton’s honor? It doesn’t, nor does its remaining fan base, all favors.
