A 58-year-old postman was shot and killed in Pennsylvania Thursday morning – and the accused shooter told investigators he believed he was poisoned by the victim, according to a report.

Eric Kortz, 53, allegedly shot dead Louis Vignone, a USPS courier veteran, in a residential area in Collier Township around 10:15 a.m., WTAE reported, citing federal prosecutors.

Kortz told investigators he and Vignone were neighbors and believed the postman was using cyanide to poison him and his family.

The suspect followed the route of the mail from Vignone and allegedly admitted to investigators that he had started Thursday to “put bullets in” his former neighbor.

After the fatal shooting, Kortz reportedly went to the police station to surrender. He was charged with the murder of Vignone.

At the scene, authorities found a firearm and seven shell casings, according to the report.
