Google The parent company Alphabet has announced that two board members, Eric Schmidt and Diane Green, would not be seeking re-election at the end of their term on June 19.
Mr. Schmidt has been a member of the company's board of directors since 2001 and also served as Google's chief executive for a decade, until April 2011. Greene, meanwhile, became CEO of Google's cloud sector after the acquisition of her company Bebop in 2015 by Google, a role she held for about three years before retiring in January. She has been on the board since 2012.
Along with the departures, Alphabet also announces the appointment of Robin L. Washington to its Board of Directors. Washington is executive vice president and chief financial officer of biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences. She previously held management positions at Hyperion Solutions and PeopleSoft.
"Robin's incredible business and leadership experience will be invaluable to our board and our business in the years to come," said John Hennessy, Chairman of the Board, in a statement. .
