Eric Stonestreet had a hilarious response to critics who claimed he was “too old” to marry fiancee Lindsay Schweitzer.

The “Modern Family” alum reposted her engagement announcement photo on her Instagram Story, but changed Schweitzer’s face to make her look more wrinkled and aged.

“Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49-year-old man, to be engaged to my almost 42-year-old fiancée,” he captioned the photo on Wednesday.

“Look, she can’t help but look so beautiful at 42 and I can’t help but seemingly look like her grandfather, so I corrected everyone,” added Stonestreet.

Fans reassured the couple that it doesn’t matter what they look like and wished them the best of luck.

“You are both perfect the way you are. I love the way you look and most importantly. LOVE YOURSELF Who cares what people think, ”one person commented on the post. “Congratulations !! I wish you both endless blessings and fond memories together❤.”

“You are superb without any filter!” Congratulations, ”agreed another person.

Others praised Stonestreet for having had such an upbeat response to trolls.

“Why do people feel the need to make these comments? I love your response congratulations, ”someone wrote.

“Hahaha. Screw them up. So happy for both of you !!! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏,” commented another.

Stonestreet announced he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend Schweitzer, a pediatric nurse, earlier this week. He posted photos of the couple on social media where she was seen wearing an engagement ring.

“She said, ‘She would ask her people to call mine,'” he joked the photo.

The duo met during the Big Slick Charity Weekend in Kansas City in 2016.

The “Secret Life of Pets” star opened up about her love for Schweitzer in 2017, saying on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “She calms me – she calms my nerves. I’m a very nervous person.
