And then there were 18.
Representative Eric Swalwell, Congressman for the Fourth Mandate of the East Bay Region of California, Nominates for the Democratic Nomination for President, he announced on Monday on "The late show with Stephen Colbert."
"I'm running for president of the United States," said Swalwell, 38. "It's official." Damn, it feels good to say that.

Mr. Swalwell, a member of the House's Intelligence and Judiciary Committees, received special attention as a French speaking voice in President Trump's foreign and immigration policy. He is often invited to cable television, often discussing the intelligence committee's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
But he said the main purpose of his campaign would be something else: gun control. His first major event as a candidate will be a town hall Tuesday near Parkland, Florida, which he planned with Cameron Kasky, one of the Parkland students who organized the Walk for Our Lives.
"I spoke to children sitting in their class, fearing to be the next victim of gun violence," he told Colbert on Monday. "And they see that Washington does nothing after the moments of silence, and they see lawmakers who love their guns more than they like our children."
Mr. Swalwell is the second California official to enter the 2020 Democratic primary, after Senator Kamala Harris.
