Unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. meets former two-division defending champion Danny Garcia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday night.
After the mega event Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. is a high-stakes championship fight on Saturday night, as Errol Spence Jr. defends his IBF and WBC welterweight titles against former two-division world champion Danny Garcia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Fans will be allowed in but they will be socially left behind and will follow CDC guidelines due to COVID-19.
Spence (26-0, 21KO), considered one of boxing’s best pound-for-pound fighters, competed in the famous building in March 2019, when he outscored Mikey Garcia to win by unanimous decision in front of an announced crowd of 47525. people to keep their IBF seat belt. He went on to win the WBC bracelet in his next contest by beating Shawn Porter in September 2019 by split decision in one of the most exciting fights of the year.
After the fight, Garcia entered the ring and challenged Spence, who accepted the offer. They were scheduled to face off on January 25, but Spence had a horrific car crash last October and had to retire after sustaining multiple injuries. The 30-year-old could have taken a tune, but wanted to get straight back into the fire with one of the 147-pound marquee talents.
After losing the WBC welterweight title to Porter in September 2018, Garcia (36-2, 21KOs) won back-to-back tilts by knocking out Adrian Granados in April 2019 and beating Ivan Redkach by unanimous decision last January.
Can Spence get back into shape after the near-fatal crash or does Garcia finally manage to break through and win the big one at 147 pounds?
