What’s astonishing is that it took the ESPN Monday Night Football team over a quarter to fight the dumpster fire in green uniforms, with the ripping job likely. brought on by a ridiculous Jalen Hurts yo-yo.
Hurts, the Eagles quarterback entered solo for the first time this season, passed to wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey in the second quarter, to be put out for the next game.
Hurts then watched from the sidelines as Carson Wentz was sacked by the Seattle Seahawks – as all Eagles fans screamed at their TVs, laptops, tablets and phones. This offensive ineptitude – and the inability after months to craft a plan for Hurts – has been what they’ve been watching for 11 games.
This silly series seemed to kindle the fuse. When the show returned from a commercial break a few minutes later, analysts Louis Riddick and Brian Griese were ready. And with the camera trained on CEO Howie Roseman as he stood masked in a box above Lincoln Financial Field, they left.

Riddick, the former front office executive, explained the cap issues presented by Wentz’s contract, which Steve Levy pointed out was the fault of the front office. Griese, the former quarterback, then threw a stink bomb around Roseman’s office so as not to, well, help the struggling quarterback.
“There is a lot of money that has been invested in Carson Wentz,” Riddick said. “He was guaranteed a lot of money upon signing. Since the salary cap for 2021 is set to drop, it would be very costly for him to be reduced after the 2020 season.… Carson Wentz will be there. They don’t want to take the plug off him, they want him to play better. They need more people around him.
Griese, however, opted for Roseman’s chin strap.
“They need to attract more players around him,” he said. “They need to get more protection from the start. It was the best offensive line in football when they won the Super Bowl (in the 2017 season). Well, (tackle) Lane Johnson is injured. It’s not the same guy. (Tackle) Jason Peters either. (Guard) Brandon Brooks was injured.
“They didn’t draft a large receiver that contributed. They drafted three wide receivers, (GM) Howie Roseman did, this offseason, and none of them contributed significantly. So they have to be better at the front office. They need to find more talent, so this attack can be built around Carson Wentz.
The Eagles, with a pass from Wentz TD to tight end Dallas Goedert at the end of the second quarter, trailed 14-6 at halftime, despite just 74 yards on offense. Wentz was 7-for-17 for 30 yards. In 10 games in the first quarter, the Eagles had less-4 yards of attack.
