Former Prime Minister Hailemariam is ready for election observation in Zimbabwe

Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn was selected by the African Union Commission to lead the African Union Election Observation Mission to Zimbabwe before the elections scheduled on July 22, 2018, The Reporter learned

The AU's new offer will be Hailemariam's first responsibility to publicly undertake since April 2 this year after his official resignation as as Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Commander-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Armed Forces

. A few months ago, the Zimbabwean government invited observers from the African Union, the European Union, and the United Nations

. As a result, the African Union will send two groups of people to visit the country. observers, including one to be led by the former prime minister. Hailemariam

Hailemariam's involvement in the establishment of peace and stability on the continent during his tenure contributed to the selection of the role of an observer in Harare. He will depart to Harare after 10 days

The former Prime Minister was Chairman of the Peace and Security Council of the AU and New Partnership for Africa's Development [19659008] (NEPAD).

It should be remembered that Hailemariam resigned earlier this year realizing that he could not inspire the desired national reforms when he was still in power.

He also admitted that if nothing had been done, the limited democratic space might disintegrate. .

He also added that his resignation and succession by a younger leader are also in the country's interest, as he is likely to take into account the concerns of young citizens

In a related development, the former first lady Roman Tesfaye revealed A new foundation named after the couple – Hailemariam and the Roman Foundation .

At the unveiling of the foundation, Roman told the press that the newly created foundation will serve women who are victims of badual and deprived violence.

Roman is best known for her contribution to women and children while she was the first woman and before.

Two weeks ago, the former First Lady received recognition jointly from the Ethiopian Civil Society Coalition for Large Scale Nutrition (CECA-SUN) and the Ministry of Health (FMoH ).

Recognition, nicknamed "The 2017 SUN Nutrition Champion" The Prize " was awarded to Roman for his contribution to the advancement of the nutrition program through collaboration and networking with government institutions, civil society, donors, UN agencies, the private sector and the media. Roman has integrated nutrition as one of the strategic priority areas of his advocacy work in supporting the implementation of the National Nutrition Program, "The Seqota Declaration".

The Declaration is a pledge to end the child under – nutrition in Ethiopia by 2030 and to defend "sustainable undernutrition – ] Reduction of nutrition in Ethiopia ".

His role in nutrition focuses on liaising with federal and regional government agencies to attract more attention, commitment and resources for the nutrition program.
