Craig Wright, Satoshi Nakamoto, a computer scientist and self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin, sent legal opinions to people who harbaded him with tweets or comments. Hodlonaut, a Twitter user who appeared to have launched the hashtag "CraigWrightIsAFraud", has begun to mount lawsuits. Wright continued to notify more legal opinions to several others, such as Ethereum's Peter McCormack and Vitalik Buterin.
Peter McCormack, host of the "What Bitcoin Did" podcast, received a legal notification from Craig Wright's lawyers, detailing a few tweets from McCormack in which he called Craig Wright a fraudster. The letter said:
"We urge you to seek legal counsel's advice on the contents of this letter, which is drafted in accordance with the pre-libel protocol applicable to complaints to the High Court of England and Wales."
The letter stated that McCormack's tweets were defamatory, abusive and defamatory. According to the letter, McCormack "removes all tweets and other publications online or otherwise in which you claim that our client [Craig Wright] had fraudulently claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. In addition, the letter also asked McCormack not to repeat the same thing, either on Twitter or on any other platform. Wright also expected McCormack to apologize to him in open court and acknowledge the falsity of his allegations.
The letter concluded by stating
"If you do not comply with the above requirements, our client is suing you in this jurisdiction for defamation."
McCormack responded to this letter with a series of tweets, flagrantly rejecting the requirements and tracking Wright and Calvin Ayre in the following tweets.
1 / I have therefore received my letter from Craig Wright and @ CalvinAyre. That's what they send to people, you see it all now.
I absolutely reject their demands.
