DAVENPORT – Zach Hird had no problem putting himself in the spirit of things during the Quad-City Times Bix 7.

The Gregg Newell Award rewards the only Quad-Cities resident to win the Bix 7, winning the 1979 race after an outstanding career at Davenport Central High School and at the University of Iowa.
