The city of Arlington sprays mosquitoes on Wednesday and Thursday, July 11 and 12, after a mosquito trapped in the area was tested positive for West Nile virus.

No human case of West Nile virus in Tarrant County this year. Dallas County confirmed its first human case at Irving on Tuesday.

The spraying will take place within a 3/4-mile radius of the intersection of East Mayfield Road and New York Avenue. Spraying will be done between 21:00. and 5 am each day, from July 11 to 12.

The same area was sprayed for mosquitoes in late June after a positive mosquito sample.

Arlington representatives stated that they would use a very low volume Aqua-Reslin application. a water-based permethrin product in specific areas where larvicide and other measures have not been effective.

Municipal staff and contractors used routine traps and deployed larvicides in strategic locations in Arlington since the beginning of the mosquito season. The teams also surveyed low-lying areas of stagnant water, which are potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
