Accra, July 4, GNA – Badminton
Confederation Africa (BCA) has concluded a four-year agreement with the
Federation of African University Sports (FASU), to promote, develop and
strengthen academic sports activities and projects in Africa.

Africa has agreed to promote and contribute to student development
Badminton competitions through the African University Games and other FASU
Championships or badminton competitions.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Mekelle, Ethiopia, on
on the side of the 9th African University Games organized by the University of Mekelle
. Sahir Edoo, Secretary General of BCA who
signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of BCA, revealed that
BCA and FASU have accepted the inclusion of the FASU activities in the BCA competition
calendar and for the results of these activities to be published on the BCA website
and other official communications.
Dr. Malumbete Ralethe, President of FASU, who signed
on behalf of SAFU, is pleased that the Memorandum of Understanding will take several months of
discussion with BCA and becomes the first agreement of cooperation of the FASU with a
Continental Sports Federation in accordance with the resolution of the General Assembly of the FASU
(March 2017) to seek cooperation and partnership with continental sports
federations.
Dr. Malumbete revealed that BCA would provide
Technical badistance, Badminton rules and competition data as well as
training for students.
He noted that cooperation would be
extended at the national level by members of the BCA and the National
University Sports Associations under the umbrella of the FASU.
