An Ethiopian hospital has released at least 120 nails, three needles, two toothpicks and pieces of broken glbad in the stomach of a man suffering from mental illness, according to local media.
The 33-year-old man was taken to St. Peter's Special Hospital in the capital, Addis Ababa, after his belly began to show signs of bulging.
The man had been taking prescription drugs for the treatment of mental illness for ten years, but had been stopping for two years.
The surgeons relieved the patient during a rare operation that lasted about two and a half hours.
Dr. Dawit Te'arei, who led the operation, said, "The patient is healthy now."
