the Sydney morning HeraldGeorgina Robinson announced that Rugby Australia had canceled a phone call with former Springbok coach Jake White at the latter's request.
It is understood that Rugby Australia's Executive Director, Raelene Castle, granted White's request after the news of the call was leaked to the media.
White would have offered his services to Wallabies in trouble, while putting his name in the ring of the role of Japan's head coach Jamie Joseph after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Rugby Australia's board of directors and management are scheduled to meet in early December to discuss the future of incumbent head coach Michael Cheika with the national team after a horrific four-game season.
Cheika badistant coaches Stephen Larkham, Nathan Gray and Simon Raiwalui are also reported to be under pressure.
Last month, former Wallaby Michael Lynagh said RugbyPbad He thinks that Michael Cheika is bulletproof for the World Cup next year in Japan, even though the Wallabies continue to record a poor record.
Lynagh said, "He will stay because a) there is no one else and b) there is a financial problem that the ARU could not fix. So on both fronts, the logistics of trying to get rid of Michael is not right. You have to wonder if Michael is the good guy to move the team forward and for me that's the case.
Australian coach Scott Johnson has also been announced as a potential replacement for Cheika. The last 56-year-old held a head coach position in 2014 while he was acting head coach of Scotland.
