Addis Ababa – Today's eighth ordinary session of the House of Representatives of the People approved the appointment of 20 new members to the Advisory Board of the Census Commission.

The members come from offices comprising nine ministers, regional deputy chief administrators and a president of the House of the Federation.

The Advisory Board members will strengthen the ability to closely monitor and propose solutions to any potential problems, it was reported.

Parliament also considered the proposed proclamation of the defense and referred it to the Standing Committee on External Relations and Peace for further details.

In accordance with the Comprehensive National Reform, the draft proclamation amended some 28 articles of the former Defense Forces Proclamation No. 809/2014.

Modes of recruitment, hierarchy of military tribunals, consideration of health insurance, essential character of naval force and others were indicated by the members of the parliament so that the permanent commission can deliberate.

Parliament has also referred the draft proclamation of the International Development Association for the Financing Agreement to the Standing Committee on Revenue, Budget and Finance.
