Ethiopia: Ministry says construction symposium is crucial to manage challenges

ADDIS ABABA- The first symposium on the construction industry has played a crucial role in managing the challenges of the sector of construction and modernization of the sector, announced the Ministry of Construction. Ayisha Mohammed said the ministry will focus on gathering new ideas on how to manage the challenges of the construction sector by undertaking various research and symposiums.

The Ministry Gathered Different Researches on Development Policies and Strategies

"Nine public universities, professional badociations and stakeholders participate in the research process".

For her, the construction sector is more sophisticated and requires competent human skills than other sectors. Thus, undertaking symposia and successive and deep research in the sector is a daily task to intensify sectoral roles, she noted.

Because problem-oriented research is important for cultivating the construction sector, the Department will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding. (MoU) with higher education institutions and stakeholders for this purpose, she said.

Presentation of a document on the symposium Expert in construction Dr. Eng. Wondwossen Zhekale said that the ethical code of conduct in customer-consultant-entrepreneur relations and practices is the main guiding principle of the sector. He added that the construction industry plays a key role in supporting the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the country, he said.

He emphasized that the symposium is useful for promoting improved and new technologies in the sector and supporting the sector's contribution to creating huge employment opportunities across the country.

During the symposium, seven research projects were recognized and recognized. will be transformed into projects that should be implemented in the near future.
