During a 5000-meter race in Lausanne, Switzerland, Ethiopian riders Yomif Kejelcha and Selemon Barega were well ahead of the pack. they rounded the last corner. Barega was in the lead with Kegelcha apparently about to overtake him. While Kejelcha was about to advance, he seemed to stumble on Barega's leg and that was when it became weird.
Rather than falling, Kejelcha answered by grabbing Barega by the shorts, apparently trying to keep his balance or taking Barega with him. Kejelcha fell to the ground, while Barega was slow enough to allow Birhanu Balew, who had to laugh all the time, to take the lead and win
. of 13: 02.67, while Barew won with a time of 13: 01.09 and took the lead of the Diamond League. Meanwhile, Kejelcha was slowly heading for an ignominious arrival and was obviously disqualified.

Barega was less than happy after the race, facing Kejelcha after the race and grabbing his jersey apparently to demonstrate to the officials what's going on past. [19659008] The incredible part of all this is that these two runners are not nullities; the pair finished first and second in the 3000 meter race at the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham. With Kejelcha, based in the United States, only 20 years old and Barega, even younger, both seem well placed to travel to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics.
If that happens, they will have at least history to discuss.
