Australia has gone through a long series of defeats and has recorded two record wins in as many days, but captain Aaron Finch insists that they still have a long way to go to win their first win in series with new coach Justin Langer. Following its nine-match clash against world No. 1 Pakistan on Monday, Australia followed the dismantling of Zimbabwe's hosts on Tuesday, earning a 100-point victory over Finch T20's international record score of 172.
The two victories in Harare broke a string of nine consecutive defeats in all forms of the game and have just snapped up a "horrible" 0-6 pounding their recent tour of England.
But Finch said simply enjoying a few more wins once again was not enough and urged his players to continue doing "the basics long enough for quite a long time."
"There is an improvement to have," said Finch in Harare
"I thought we were sloppy on the ground at times (against Zimbabwe), I thought that there was a occasion to tighten a little stronger sometimes.
"I know that they came very loud, but I thought we could have played even more good balls and have them hit
"So there is still room for improvement (and) in terms of complacency, I do not think at all."
In their two resounding wins, only three of their drummers – Finch, D'Arcy Short, and Travis Head – were faced with more than one delivery in the middle.
It means people like Nic Maddinson – who was recalled to For the first time in almost four years, but has not yet faced the ball, as well as Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey, and will meet in Thursday's match against Pakistan, well short of the split time.
But Finch is confident that his powerful middle order will be ready to shoot – if given any opportunity.
"Obviously, you can not reproduce the match conditions, but they continue to have as much work as possible."
The return of Australia this week has been a change welcome after the tour of England, where a mined team suffered just his second 0-5 whitened white and was then beaten It represented the worst start possible for the new era of Langer, which came after the tumultuous fallout of the Cape falsification scandal that left the camp a new captain, vice-captain and coach Finch was awesome to watch: Mire
But throughout the tour in the UK, the players insisted on the 39, positive mood of the camp, and Finch reiterated that the results in England were due in large part to the form and inexperience of the tourists rather than deeper problems in the squa D.
"Obviously, the results were horrible for us, we lost the six matches, "he said. "But we could not ask ourselves how we were training or the intensity at which we were training."
"I think when you have an inexperienced group and you arrive early, you're running after your tail, a lot and England just did not give up. did not sniff at us to come back in. Stanlake sizzles from a T20 fire spell
"I think the mood in the camp was always positive and I think coming here brought us the trust we had. and probably a little more self confidence coming to a new tournament against two teams that we have not played for a long time, compared to a team (England) who dominated us in the summer last and did it again. a new environment has made a world of difference up here.
