LEICESTER, England (AP) – Leicester hosted a quarter-final match of the English League Cup against Manchester City by defeating Southampton 6 to 5 in a penalty shoot-out on Tuesday.
Nampalys Mendy converted the winning penalty after Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward saved the goalkeeper's attempt. Both teams scored their first five penalties.
The match ended on a score of 0-0 after 90 minutes.
It had been reorganized after being scheduled for Tuesday after the crash of a helicopter that killed Thai owner Leicester, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and four other people on October 27.
