The Federal Attorney General's Office today declared that there are organized groups with significant support. He did not specify the type of support behind the violence in parts of Oromia and Benshingul in western Ethiopia.

Zenabu Tunun, director of public relations and communication at the office, who spoke with Amharic VOA journalist Eskinder Firew in Addis Ababa, did not give a name related to the 39, political identity of what he called "groups" at the root of the violence.

The findings of the working group that the Attorney General's office has deployed to the region this week to determine the identity of groups or individuals who may be held responsible for the killings will be made public, Zenabu added.

The Attorney General's office is convinced, based on Zenabu's response to VOA Amharic, that the violence in the above-mentioned areas is not lawless. On the contrary, it is a project and carried out in a coordinated way.

Asked if the Attorney General's Office agreed with the statement of the National Security Council, came out this week and makes it clear that the groups behind the violence are the ones who lost power and privileges due to ongoing changes in the country, public relations and the director of communications of the Attorney General's office said that he could not talk about it now, because the findings would be made public as soon as it was released. they would be finalized.

For its part, Ethiopian Satellite Television, based in the United States, quoted the regional authorities of Benshangul as announcing yesterday that the radical ethno-nationalist group of the Oromo region, the Oromo Liberation Front ( OLF), was at the origin of the violence. OLF itself, however, issued a statement condemning the incident which also claimed the lives of several members of the regional police and civilians, which, according to some badysts, constitutes political cover.

A new protest is taking place in the regional state of Oromo. And the protesters seem to have conflicting messages, probably on purpose. On the one hand, they are asking the federal government to take decisive action against killings and the displacement of civilians. On the other hand, the campaign against leaders of the Oromo Democratic Party, including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who is the region's main actor credited for ending the ruthless regime of the TPLF within the ruling coalition, has freely expressed. what is now, the Amhara Democratic Party (ADP), another member of the ruling coalition. Unlike the radical group, ODP envisages the creation of a democratic Ethiopia and forms alliances with other moderate Oromo ethnic political organizations. Last week, he reached an agreement on the Oromo Democratic Front (ODF), whose leaders figure among the Oromo pioneering ethno-nationalists and defenders of the OLF, who later joined the organization.

With regard to the Ethiopian Government's action, in accordance with the decision of the National Security Council, which is the highest collective authority of the country in matters of peace and security, the federal government has deployed forces in the regions affected by violence. Last week, more than 200 suspects involved in the killing of civilians and police were arrested.

At the same time, the Oromia Regional State Cabinet held a meeting today to discuss current affairs, including the security and peace situation in the region. And the cabinet has fully supported the decision of the National Security Council, according to a report by Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC).
