The season of the Speed Chess Championship is in full swing now that qualifying begins on Tuesday, July 10 at noon. Pacific Time (3 pm, Eastern Time, 7 pm UTC)
The Qualifying Tournament winner will join 15 of the world 's best chess players in a parenthesis for the main event of the championship. The main category matches start later this month.

Players ranked 2500 or above (Chess.com blitz) can join the tournament at www .Chess.com / live starting 30 minutes before the event on Tuesday.

In what should be one of the strongest online tournaments ever held, Chess.com will crown its 16th Speed Chess Championship contender on Tuesday. Full comments from the event's failure master will be provided live by IM Daniel Rensch and GM Robert Hess
The Speed Chess Championship qualifier is open to any player with a blitz score Chess.com of 2500 or more. The 10 round Swiss tournament will run at standard Speed Chess speed control of 3 minutes plus 1 second of increase. A prize pool of $ 3,500 is in play with the valuable Speed Chess qualification.
At the end of the tournament, the 16 Speed Chess Championship participants will be ranked 1-16 according to their Blitz ranking from Chess.com. The official Speed Chess ranking with matches will be released on Wednesday, July 11th.
- Swiss Tournament: 10 rounds, 3 + 1 blitz.
- Standard tiegrs of the Chess.com tournament used only for the qualifying spot. No tie-break used for cash prizes;
- Must be titled and rated 2500 or higher in the Chess.com Blitz
- Open to all who meet the eligibility criteria, including players invited to the main category. If a guest player wins a qualifying place, he receives the cash prize and the qualification returns to the next eligible finalist.
- At the end of the tournament, a winner will join the main support of Speed Chess, which will be immediately ranked 1 16 by Chess.com's current blitz ranking
