Michelin unveils Tokyo's starred restaurants, rice balls shop is on the list

TOKYO (Kyodo) – Michelin on Tuesday unveiled its list of Tokyo starred restaurants on Tuesday, saying the capital had "the highest number of starred restaurants" with 230 such establishments, 13 of which have the highest rating of three stars.

The Guide, which will go on sale on Friday, also includes for the first time a rice balls shop, welcoming Yadoroku as Bib Gourmand among the 254 restaurants in Tokyo chosen for their good quality dishes of great value. less than 5,000 yen ($ 44).

Yadoroku, in the district of Asakusa, serves since 1954 "white rice" typically "onigiri", wrapped in a Nori seaweed.

Onigiri are often stuffed and Yadoroku are stuffed with various shrimp such as shrimp cooked in soy sauce and Japanese plums marinated in salt.

Of the 13 three-star restaurants, a French restaurant, L'Osier, has recently earned the status of best status. Since the creation of the Guide, four three-star restaurants have been on the list for 12 years, including Sukiyabashi Jiro, a sushi restaurant, and Kanda, which serves traditional Japanese cuisine.

Michelin has awarded two stars to 52 restaurants and one star to 165 restaurants.
