Officials say the peak of transmission is between mid-August and mid-October and that in most years the virus is detected later in the season. 19659007] Dr. William Meredith, Administrator of the Mosquito Control Section, says that heavy rains in May and June have resulted in more adult mosquitoes at the state level, but that sprays have been mbadive. He says officials are hoping that early detection of the virus does not mean an abnormal activity of the disease transmitted by mosquitoes later in the year.
