BERLIN (AP) – Three unknown people allegedly stole a painting from French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir in an auction house in Vienna, police said Wednesday.

The thieves entered the Dorotheum auction house on Monday and removed the painting from a wall in a room on the second floor where he was exposed. They then left the building through three different exits and escaped, police said in a written statement.

The police posted photos of strangers and asked the public to help find the thieves.

An auction of Renoir's painting "Gulf, Sea, Green Cliffs", estimated between 120,000 and 160,000 euros, has been removed from the Dorotheum website.
