Several members of the police and Oromia civilians killed in East Wollega

The central committee of the ODP is furious after the murder of the Oromia police in East Wollega, in western Ethiopia. Wishes to go after the criminals.

Several members of the Oromia police and civilians are being killed in the East Wollega area and in areas adjacent to the Benishangul Regional State, today reported Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), citing the communications office of the State of Oromia Regional.

Deressa Terefe, deputy director of the office, told FBC that the incident occurred Thursday at Arkumbe Keble in Limu District, East Wollega, and that several residents and regional police had killed, without mentioning the exact figures of the victims. Deressa also said that the property was damaged, although its value has not yet been estimated.

The regional government's communications office described the murders as "horrible" and said it would disclose to the public the exact number of causalities, even if it did not specify the exact date and time.

Social media, meanwhile, claim that nearly 15 police officers and dozens of civilians are killed during an attack.

The bodies of the victims were transported to Nekemte where people took to the streets to ask the government to stop the killings and the displacement of civilians. One person was killed in Nekemte during the demonstrations that followed, as protesters became agitated and moved, said Deressa to FBC.

The question of who is behind the attacks and the murders is not addressed explicitly. The forces that are opposed to peace in the region and the country and want to reverse the ongoing changes in the country are the causes of the conflict, said the deputy head of the region's communications office. And this is not the first time the region is going through a security crisis.

Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of people displaced a few months ago in the same area. Some social media activists allege that the TPLF faction is working with the radical Oromo ethno-nationalist group, the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), an organization that has reached an agreement with the Oromo Democratic Party ( ODF), which governs the region. Clashes would have even occurred between government forces and the OLF fighters at the end of October 2018.

Killings were also reported this week in Moyale, southern Ethiopia, near Somali areas, and in the Chinanksen and Babile regions of southeastern Ethiopia.

At the same time, the Central Committee of the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) held an urgent meeting, apparently in the Prime Minister's Office, to discuss the escalation of the security crisis in different regions of the State of Ethiopia and Oromia and related issues. And is issued a stern statement.

The meeting evaluated, according to the report of the FBC, the benefits of ongoing changes in the country and the security problems in the states of the Oromia region.

The statement tended to link the current security crisis, which is apparently a by-product of the fabricated conflict, to what it called forces that misused government power and misused resources. The forces are working tirelessly, the statement added, not only to create a gap between the government and the people of the Oromia region, but also to make the region a war zone.

And the central committee of the ODP promised to guarantee peace and security in the region as soon as possible and to take on those responsible for all the atrocities.
