Statement by Christine Lagarde, Executive Director of the IMF, on the meeting with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde met the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed
from Ethiopia today to Washington.

At the end of the meeting, the Director General did the following
declaration:

"I was delighted to welcome Prime Minister Abiy to the IMF today.
an engaging and productive meeting. I congratulated the Prime Minister for
the Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship recently signed with Eritrea,
which will have a positive impact on the stability of the region. me too
congratulated for his recent political announcements and his ambitious
economic reform program.

"I reiterated the IMF's commitment to working with the Ethiopian authorities
to ensure that the economy achieves high rates of sustainable and inclusive development
growth to reduce poverty. "
