KHARTOUM, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) – Sudan and Ethiopia on Thursday stressed the importance of creating joint forces to secure their shared border, the official SUNA news agency reported.

Both sides expressed their views during the meeting between Sudanese President Faisal Hbadan Ibrahim's aide and the Ethiopian ambbadador to Khartoum, the report said.

The creation of joint border forces could help prevent smuggling and trafficking in human beings, they agreed.

Ibrahim reiterated Sudan's willingness and concern to secure the border and strengthen bilateral relations with Ethiopia, the report said.

The joint border between Sudan and Ethiopia has led to an increase in the activities of human trafficking groups.

Sudan is considered one of the main routes taken by traffickers of human beings and migrants in an illegal situation.
