Chinese firm Tencent and global investment firm KKR have finalized their $ 175 million investment in Philippine financial technology firm Voyager Innovations, an agreement announced in October.

Voyager plans to raise an additional $ 40 million from the International Finance Corp. and the IFC Emerging Asia Fund, bringing the funding to $ 215 million, according to its parent company, PLDT Inc., the largest telecommunications group in the Philippines.

This agreement is part of the growing ambitions of Chinese companies in the Philippines. Earlier this month, Caixin announced that a consortium led by China Telecom's parent company had obtained a "temporary" license to operate a telecommunication network in the Philippines.
