As Eritrean President and his entourage that included his Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and his senior adviser, Yemane Gebremeskel, celebrated the opening of the Eritrean Embbady in Addis Ababa.
The premise of the embbady that is near the stadium of Addis Ababa was closed for twenty years after the war between the two countries. The national anthem was played while Isayas Afeworki, Eritrean president, and Ethiopian prime minister, who fought as a soldier during the Eritrean-Eritrean war, waved the Eritrean flag on the premises of the embbady.
It is believed that the reopening of the embbady took place even favor the relationship between the two countries. Ethiopia is expected to open an embbady in Asmara and appoint an ambbadador.
A memorandum of understanding for close cooperation between the two countries in the areas of political, economic, security and cultural relations is signed. However, the details of the agreement are not yet known to the public.
Some badysts are positive about the peace agreement and the relationship between countries has returned to normalcy. Yet, some Ethiopians and politicized badysts worry and fear that the relationship is principled and policy-driven to avoid another possible conflict that could lead to war if that happens.
As many Ethiopians seem to think, President Isayas Afeworki received an unprecedented warm welcome upon his arrival and during his three days of stay.
Ethiopians admire the Eritrean president because of his leadership for his own cause, but many Ethiopians do not seem to trust him when it comes to Ethiopia.
In a concert held at the Millennium Hall of the capital Addis Ababa to announce peace between Eritrea and Ethiopia. Isayas seemed to have a message for skeptics when he said, "We are one and we will not allow anyone to hinder or disrupt our love."
