"Since the first war in Sudan, a number of people have crossed the threshold of Uganda". The hospitality offered by the Ugandan government has allowed South Sudanese children to go to school and the others have settled in and have access to health care from existing health facilities.

"We have ongoing meetings supported by IGAD [Intergovernmental Authority on Development] and Uganda to ensure the return of peace to South Sudan," explained NAPO.
Ugandan traders continue to trade with South Sudan, claiming that much is needed for Juba to set up economically.
"In the past, the rebels ambushed us, but since then, these activities have stopped." Meanwhile, the minister called on members of the international community to support the peace process in the new African nation.
