MOSCOW (Reuters) – Moscow's latest tourist attraction, a cable car overlooking the Moskva, was closed the day after its inauguration in the wake of a so-called cyber attack.
The gondola takes pbadengers from the Sparrow Hills overlooking the Russian capital to the Luzhniki sports stadium, where the FIFA World Cup final was held this summer.
It opened to the public on Tuesday, with free rides the first month, but suddenly stopped the next day due to what the operator called a cyber attack on its servers.
He said the pbadengers on board had been delivered safely to their destination, but did not indicate when the cable car could reopen. The tests were to be finished on Thursday night.
The cable car was due to open before the World Cup football but suffered a setback in May when police announced that a two-ton aluminum panel worth 2 million rubles (23,490 pounds) had been stolen from the construction site.
