The National Team Women's football coach Harambee Starlets David Ouma pleased with the preparation of his charges ahead of the 2018 Cecafa Championships which will start tomorrow in Kigali, Rwanda.

The team left yesterday in Rwanda where it will open its campaign against its rivals, Crested Cranes of Uganda, tomorrow from 14h.

Ouma will guide the national team for the second consecutive regional tournament in hopes of winning her maiden title.

They finished second behind Kilimanjaro Queens of Tanzania in the 2016 edition held in Uganda.

This will be a great opportunity for the Starlets to shine after their second-round exit in the qualifying rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The national team was eliminated by Equatorial Guinea with a total of 3-2.

"We have had enough preparations, the players are optimistic and I am confident that we will show positive results," said Ouma.

The tactician was worried about Vihiga striker Queens Cythia Shilwatso and Spedag midfielder Caroline Anyango, who suffered blows during training.

The duo are racing against time to be in shape before the opening match against Uganda, but Ouma remains confident of their timely recovery.

The tactician, however, included the duo in his traveling team. Young Martha Amunyolete, who plays for Trans Nzoia Falcons, received her first call to the senior team after a brilliant performance in the U-20 team that was eliminated in the U World Cup qualifiers -20.

Thika Queens goalkeeper Monica Karambu and Oserian Ladies defender Anita Adongo teamed up.

Eldoret Falcons midfielder Ruth Ingosti earned his first call to the national team after a brilliant season in Eldoret.

"Carolyne Anyango and Cynthia Shilwatso have been hit hard at training, but we hope they will recover in time and be in the first game against Uganda," Ouma said.

The edition of this year will be played in a round-robin format unlike the last edition where the nations were grouped into two groups.

The Five Nations Tournament attracted guests from Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

This will be the second time that the national team will take part in the regional championship under Ouma, which has guided them to their AWCON 2016 historic final in Cameroon but which has collapsed
