National The women's football team, Harambee Starlets, will face defending champions Kilimanjaro Queens of Tanzania in the second match of the Cecafa Women's Championship at Kigali stadium, Nyamirambo, today .

David Ouma's coach will try to win after falling on Crested Cranes of Uganda in the opening match on Thursday. Today 's match will start at 17:15, Kenyan time.

The match will be a repeat of the 2016 final when Tanzania won the title with a 2-1 victory.

Commenting on the loss to Uganda, coach Ouma said his tactical orientation in the match was good but that he blamed his forwards.

"We have well developed the game from the back to midfield but we missed a lot of chances especially in the opposition zone.

"We had a lot of chances, including one-on-one with their goalkeeper, but we were not able to take advantage of them, they are the same mistakes we made in our match against Equatorial Guinea. ] Get the latest news from the World Cup at our SMS sports service by texting "SPORTS" at 22840.

"We conceded a botched goal. I'm watching now how the team will react after the defeat, "said Ouma.

Ouma has to play his cards well considering that Tanzania is a very tactical team and that she has fast players.

Tanzania is also falling victim to a 1-0 defeat against Rwanda in the opening match.

Uganda's 1-0 defeat was the first for Ouma against the Crested Cranes, as he guided the national team in three outings and won on all occasions without conceding a goal. .

The edition of this year is tricky for Ouma and his opponents since the championship is played in a round robin and that defeat has complicated the equation for Kenyans.

Despite being eliminated in the group stage at the last edition, Rwanda alongside Ethiopia remains favorite in the league, with the local team having tremendous odds to win the title.

Unlike Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda, Rwanda did not take part in the continental qualifiers. Kenya is still superior in the region following an exit in the final of the African Women's Nations Cup in Cameroon in 2016 where it was eliminated at the preliminary stage.

Starlets will turn to Neddy Atieno in search of goals today, despite many missed opportunities in the opening match against Uganda. The fast winger will be completed by Mwanahalima Adam and Teresa Engesha.

Tanzania will be led by a long-time skipper and striker Asha Rashid who played a crucial role in the last edition with the support of goalkeeper Fatuma Omari.
