This year, San Diego Comiccon Hall H panels were relatively quiet, at least compared to previous years. We have seen new eyes on what comes from The Predator Glbad Star Trek: Discovery and The Walking Dead but the largest panel by far this year was the Warner Bros. panel, which just showed the first look at James Wan's Aquaman .
While Jason Momoa's Aquaman, the human name Arthur Curry, was a culmination of the Justice League of 2016, it's the first time we've had the opportunity to see in action by his own means. Highlights of the new trailer include Marine Marvel's Aquatic Family, including Nicole Kidman as her mother Queen Atlanna and Patrick Wilson as his belligerent half-brother Orm (AKA Ocean Master), as well as a story Originally epic scene in which a young Arthur Curry (Kaan Guldur) founded the just anger of an aquarium filled with sharks. Another highlight is Amber Heard's Mera, who manages to swim Aquaman – "Do your best when you do not think at all" – and jump from a plane without a parachute ("Redheads, you must love them! ") Since Warner Bros. introduced the character for the first time in the Justice League studio backtracked on its DC franchise as a result of disappointing reviews. It moves away from its expanded universe in favor of movies in the vein of the Wonder Woman still successful, still in the same world, but not as interconnected as the cinematic universe of Marvel. As such, Aquaman will be the first film to test this strategy, but there is more on the horizon: Warner Bros. also published a surprise trailer for Shazam as well as an excerpt from Wonder Woman 1984 on the panel (which will not appear online). There are also two films of Joker on the way – one on the character of Jared Leto, and an original film of Todd Phillips with Joaquin Phoenix in the movie theaters in the near future. How well Aquaman is received by the box office, critics and fans will likely have a big impact on the direction of the franchise.
Aquaman is released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
