There is a hitter on the Cincinnati Reds who has a rock-solid OPS well above .900 despite the fact that the offensive, overall, has been largely putrid all season. And, if you think about it, that's exactly what it should be, assuming there's only one at this point.
It's Eugenio Suarez, the emerging star that the Reds have been controlling for at least half a decade, and even after last night's heroic exploits, Suarez has managed to save even more clutches for today.
Suarez ran twice in races without the need for a dinger, which the Reds have achieved with little valuable results this season, which highlighted his evening 2 for 3, BB, 2 ribbie. On top of that, he made an excellent pair of defensive games while moving all the left side of the diamond, showing how nice it is that the Reds have an old SS 3B playing, given their propensity to move the defenders all over the field.
Congratulations on the big party, Geno, and here's a new climbing season.
Honorable mentions are due to: Luis Castillo, whose beginning was shortened by the rain but which remains excellent (5.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K on 76 sites); Jose Peraza, who played a dinger … and walked! Nick Senzel, who went 2 for 5 with a scored point and a stolen base; Joey Votto, who also went 2 for 5 with a point scored; Amir Garrett, who caught three at his IP to continue his start of the electrical season; David Hernandez, who apparently launched for the nth day in a row and who still shot a scoreless frame; and Raisel Iglesias, who sliced the eyeballs in the 9th inning for the save.

Then, Willson Contreras hit a dribbler on 2 along the 3B line that hit the bag and appeared and on Eugenio Suarez's head to allow both runners to score. The reds were 2-0.
- As the rain began to fall – and the Reds' formation was preparing for Jose Quintana for the third time – the bats started waking up. Peraza hit his dinger on the wall in RF, and the singles of Castillo himself and Votto brought Suarez to the plate with the runners again. Quintana, however, was more than willing to help the Reds, while a pair of wild pitches allowed Castillo to score and Votto to take 3B. Geno then managed a single in LF to bring Votto to give the Reds a 3-2 lead. .
- A few hours later, after the rain stopped falling, the Reds bonded on insurance in the bottom of the 7th. Senzel and Votto have each chosen to start the round, followed by another successful Suarez RBI, a single in LF. Although the Reds finally left the bases loaded, this extra race left them ahead, 4-2. That's exactly how things ended.

- Laura Fay, wife of John Fay, of The Enquirer, served as the Reds' honorary bat tonight, while the GABP has raised awareness of its initiative to fight breast cancer. She is currently on her second breast cancer fight and it was incredibly cool to watch.

Luis Castillo came into play tonight after beating Jose Quintana 2-2 over his career – before taking another hard blow against him. Dude has 10 career successes on about 120 APs, including 3 off Quintana. Pleasant!
- Just after the Reds regained the advantage in the bottom of the 5th, the match plunged into an hour late rain and 51 minutes after Castillo recorded the first exit of the Top of the 6th.
- The Cubs will go to Washington later in the evening, while the Reds will host the Los Angeles Dodgers at GABP for a series of weekends starting Friday. Rich Hill and Anthony DeSclafani will start the opening game on Friday night with a first pitch scheduled at 7:10 pm ET. Yes, Cody Bellinger will probably touch at least one dinger – hope the Reds can collect more.
