GLENEAGLES, Scotland (AP) – Europe and the United States are tied at 8-8 to qualify for the singles of the last day of the Solheim Cup.
After sharing the two men's 2-2 morning in the second day at Gleneagles, the United States won the afternoon tense match at four balls 2 1 / 2-1 1/2 with three matches reaching the 18th hole and the last match ending in 17.
This is the first time since 2011 in Ireland that teams were tied for singles. The Europeans then lifted the cup that year and tried to prevent the victory of three rounds of the United States in the first women's team tournament.
The players fought the strong winds, the pouring rain and – in the last hour – a light that faded on the PGA centenary course. Some matches lasted nearly six hours and several players were warned of the slow pace of the game.
