Evacuated houses, roads closed due to wildfire near Snowbasin, Pineview

WEBER COUNTY, Utah – Homes are evacuated as crews respond to a wildfire between Snowbasin Resort and Pineview Reservoir.

The blaze, which authorities have dubbed Art Nord Fire, was first reported around 4:25 p.m. near 5200 Snowbasin Road in Huntsville.

As of the last update, the fire was estimated at 50 acres. Investigators determined it was target shooting.

WCSO said MPs were evacuating homes in the area. Information was not immediately available on the number of houses or specific areas at risk.

The portion of Ogden Canyon Road (SR-39) that runs along the south side of Pineview Reservoir has been closed. The closure is in place for eastbound traffic at the intersection of SR-158 and Trappers Loop Road (SR-167) for westbound traffic.

Snowbasin Road is also closed at Trappers Loop Road.

Several tankers have been called in to assist ground crews with containment efforts.
