Evaluation of the Jets off season so far – The Athletic

The 2019 league year has been well underway for the Jets, as the team looks to take the necessary steps to qualify for the playoffs.

Although this is only a beginning, here are some of my thoughts on their early activities.

Good for the Jets to have adopted the approach they adopted with Le'Veon Bell

The Jets needed Bell. They could not get out of this off season without him. Not with their salary cap space of $ 82 million. Not after talking about their desire to supply Sam Darnold with weapons. Not after Anthony Barr would have "felt bad at heart" because of his initial decision to come to New York.

They could not negotiate with him, then let him sign with another team. It would have been such a slap.

But good for the Jets to stay true to their weapons. Good for them not to bet against themselves. It's good for them to trust their sources, knowing that they were the only team in the bell …
