For the first time, Evan Rachel Wood attaches a name to her alleged attacker.
Monday morning, the candidate for the Emmy Awards “Westworld” launched an explosive revelation about the horrific abuse she claims to have suffered while in a relationship with musician Marilyn Manson.
“My attacker’s name is Brian Warner,” she wrote on Instagram and in a statement to Vanity Fair.
“Also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and abused me horribly for years, ”the 33-year-old continued. “I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I ended up living in fear of reprisals, slander or blackmail. I am here to denounce this dangerous man and call on the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins more lives. I stand alongside the many victims who will no longer remain silent.
Wood began a romantic relationship with the goth singer as a teenager, although the couple remained silent until Wood turned 19. Manson, now 52, was 38 when the couple dated. In 2010, they got engaged briefly before leaving him.
But it wasn’t until years later that rumors spread that Manson had groomed Wood for an abusive and servile relationship.
Last fall, Manson abruptly ended an interview with British music site Metal Hammer when the reporter mentioned Wood’s name. The shock rocker camp then released a lengthy statement, denying all accusations of abuse.
“Manson has never shied away from making public comments – he also doesn’t have to make ‘the same comment twice’,” his spokesperson said at the time.
Representatives for Manson and Wood did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on his latest statements.
Along with the recent post, she also took to social media to share shocking stories on behalf of several other women who claim to have also been treated and abused by the “Dope Show” singer – and now want him to be held “responsible”.
Wood’s post comes five years after he first spoke about an abusive relationship to Rolling Stone in 2016. In 2019, Wood helped forge California’s Phoenix Act, a bill that extended the statute of limitations. for domestic violence cases three to five years – and testified about her “rape and torture” at the California Senate hearing.
“I mustered the courage to leave several times, but he kept calling my house and threatening to kill himself,” Wood said in his testimony. “On one occasion I came back to try to defuse the situation, he stuck me in our room and asked me to kneel down. Then he tied me up by my hands and feet. Once I was restrained, he beat me and shocked sensitive parts of my body with a torture device called a purple wand. For him, it was a way for me to prove my loyalty. The pain was excruciating. It was as if I had left my body and part of me died that day.
