Taco Bell has been in the vegetarian game for yearsHelloburrito with beans! But on Tuesday, the chain announced a menu * dedicated * without meat with classic dishes. and new favs. And although personally, I do not hesitate to remove some beef tacos myself, the range of vegetarian dishes is so good that I could convert myself.
When T-Bell invited me to a small glimpse in a NYC Cantina neighborhood, I was inbut still a bit unsure why this "not so new" menu (their words, not mine) was different from what we've seen before.
I arrived at the location of 8th Avenue and I immediately grabbed some chips and a guac aperitif. Soon, a tray of burritos with beans came out of the kitchen. The first of four ~ official ~ items from the vegetarian menu.
Now, I know it's a classic and all, but I've never tried the burrito beans. So when he landed on my plate, I had high expectations. It was creamy, cheesy and tasty in a way that was not too strong. And my biggest fear, that something was missing, would have been dispelled. There is a reason why this is a Taco Bell icon. I dipped it in hot sauce (fire, always) and I ate too much despite the public relations team warning us to "save some space". Call me a rebel.
