Supercell, the developer behind the occasional hits Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Boom Beach, and Clash Royale, just announced a brand new free village builder called Everdale. It is entering open beta testing according to today’s announcement. Only certain regions will be able to participate in the Early Access of the Open Beta. Those who live in the Nordic countries, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Malaysia will participate in the final phase of testing of Supercell’s new game.
Above you can watch a new YouTube video posted by the Everdale team, featuring the Community Manager. This video describes how the game started and how its development is going while offering some information on what players can expect from this future village builder.
Supercell also outlined what people can expect from Everdale in a new blog post on the developer’s official site. More or less, Everdale feels like a community village building game where your village is just a part of what makes up a nine player valley. We also know that upgrading your villagers and guild features will be included, but none of these mechanics will come as a surprise.
What’s interesting about today’s announcement is that Supercell described how it previously released Everdale as an alpha under the name Valleys & Villages, released by Osmium Interactive. This allowed Supercell to get feedback from a player base without them knowing they were testing a game for a big name like Supercell, bypassing the news cycle while essentially designing one game per committee, ensuring more. that probably the game is addicting, hence the presence of in-app purchases in today’s beta that already go up to $ 49.99 per item.
So there it is. Supercell is working on yet another free-to-play village building game, this time emphasizing cooperation and friendship, which more than likely has everything to do with taking advantage of the FOMO player through the in-game in-game purchases. If you’d like to check out a gameplay preview to get a closer look at what to expect, Supercell has released a second trailer which you can watch above, and if you live in one of the newly announced test regions, eh well, you should be able to grab the open beta install from the Play Store widget placed below for your convenience.
