Everwood creator Greg Berlanti and show star Rina Mimoun pay tribute to the late Stephanie Niznik, whose death was announced Friday. In a joint statement, executive producers remember the actress as an "incredible friend" and a "nurturing figure" on the set of WB's beloved drama.
"Everwood was more than a TV show. It was a family declaration bed. "We recently lost the mother of our tribe, Stephanie Niznik. Stephanie played the role of Nina, neighbor of Andy Brown, and the woman who helped raise her children as he fought to be a single father. She continued this role off the screen by being an amazing friend, a nurturing figure for our younger cast members and an artist who brought warmth, compassion and humor to every episode and shoot. Everyone who has had the chance to know her and work with her will miss her very much.
The tribute of Berlanti and Mimoun follows the same words of some of the stars of Niznik, including Scott Wolf (Jake, the boyfriend of Nina) and Vivien Cardone (who played the role of Delia, the daughter of Andy), to read here. The EPs were last brought together with the Everwood casting at a 15th anniversary panel in 2017.
Niznik was only 52 years old when she died unexpectedly in Encino, California on June 23rd. No cause of death has been revealed.
