Year six is the first full year of Rainbow Six Siege’s revamped annual content plan, and as announced, it’s loaded with quality-of-life changes and core feature reviews. There are four new operators, map shuffles, and plenty of events promised in the official roadmap – just enough new toys to keep things cool season after season – but what’s missing from this sheet road, it’s Ubisoft’s plan to fundamentally change the way every turn plays.
In Year 6, Ubisoft announced plans to reduce Rainbow Six Siege match downtime by giving attackers more to do during the preparation phase and allowing eliminated players to directly contribute to the outcome of the game. ‘a lap. Additionally, Year 6 will feature Mira, Maestro, and Goyo reshuffles, make health and armor more transparent, and generally rebalance the game to keep attacking just as viable as defense.

We’ll start by going over the upcoming title changes with the Operation Crimson Heist release date from Flores to high school Gonne-6, and then move on to the Year 6 roadmap and some of the gameplay changes that will take place. ‘Ubisoft is preparing.
Flores
The first season of year 6, Operation Crimson Heist, features Argentinian striker Flores, a medium speed striker with four special drones loaded with explosives. Flores has ten seconds to set up each RCE-Ratero drone. The drone then anchors to its location, becomes bulletproof, and explodes after a few more seconds. Each explosion appears to have a blast radius similar to that of a nitro cell, but defenders are given plenty of warning to leave the area thanks to an audible siren that sounds when the drone anchors.
Flores can manually trigger the anchor phase of each drone at any time during the countdown, and if you activate this mid-air, the drone will anchor the next surface it touches. This allows you to “ bake ” the drone a bit if you drop it from a height, giving defenders less time to react. Ultimately, drones are useful for opening hatches and destroying gadgets like Maestro shields and cameras rather than killing enemies.
Flores can choose the AR33 or SR-25 as her primary weapon, but can only bring the GSh-18 as a handgun. Finally, her choice of secondary gadgets is somewhere between stun grenades and a claymore.
Redesign of the border
Flores is coming alongside a redesign of the popular Border map, which was recently taken out of competitive play as it became obsolete. The redesign is similar to the scale of the Club House redesign and maintains the identity of the card, its key sites and flow.
So what’s up? The bathroom and countertops are now a viable goal with a massively enlarged bathroom and fewer possibilities for vertical play. The waiting room now has an interior balcony which connects the break room to the eastern stairs. The archives have been opened, which greatly facilitates the defense against a capture of Balcony North and Vehicle. There are a lot more small revisions, but it’s also worth noting that the map is now a lot tidier with less debris and clutter obscuring lines of sight – hope that means you won’t die of pixels. weird.
Gonne-6 and replay the match
Y6S1 also adds a new secondary weapon for attackers called Gonne-6, which is a one-shot weapon capable of destroying defender gadgets, and the match replay system intended for PC players. Ubisoft says it is not yet available for console gamers as it is still in beta.
Operators and cards of the year 6
While much less is known about the rest of Year 6, we do know that the operator for Season 2 is from Nakoda, an indigenous people of the Great Plains. This operator is accompanied by a redesign of Favela focused on the casual. In Season 3, we get a Croatian Operator and three small map buffs instead of a full-scale overhaul. Finally, Siege gets an Irish operator in the fourth season, as well as a redesign of the Outback.
Operator rework
Operator reshuffles are also promised, and they target all defenders of public services. Goyo loses his explosive shields. These will be replaced with a similar explosive device that can be mounted on the ground or against walls, much like Jäger’s ADS. Like the previous design, these also have a metal casing which gives them around 270 degrees of protection.

Mira and Maestro are both subject to alterations that affect their ability to provide information. The plan is that attackers capable of intermingling these devices will shatter the glass, obscuring the defenders’ vision – Mira and Maestro would then be forced to open their respective gadgets to make them useful again or simply abandon the utility. Melusi’s gadget is nerfed too. When you trigger a Banshee, it will open up and you can shoot and destroy it.
Few details were provided, but the sign also mentions rework for Fuze and Finka. Fuze’s gadget will become more useful and Finka will be able to revive with a Nanoboost.
Redesign of the bulletproof cam
Bulletproof cameras will now have full rotation and an EMP dart they can fire to disable the attacker’s gadget and drones. A first version should be available on the Y6S2 test server.
Reduce downtime
One of the primary goals of Grade 6 is to reduce downtime and Ubisoft aims to achieve this through two changes. The first, called “attacking attack”, will allow anyone on the attacking team to change operator and load during the preparation phase in order to be able to react to the configuration of the defending team.
The second, called “afterlife activities”, allows players to use any remote control utility after being eliminated. It’s unclear if there are any limits, but the basic idea is that a dead defender like Castle can jump on Maestro’s camera and start throwing an assailant. For an attacker, that would mean flying your own drone on the map if you’ve been knocked out and a spare drone is still deployed.
Armor and health
To facilitate transparency, the armor system is also tweaked slightly so that you can clearly tell how much additional health your armor stat gives you. A one-armor operator still has 100 health, but a two-armor has 120 health and a three-armor has 140 health. It doesn’t change the number of hits you can take, but it does make the difference between low and high armor more transparent to players.
Reputation system
The last major update is the full arrival of the Player Behavior System which has been running in the background for a few months now, albeit in limited capacity. Ubisoft doesn’t go into detail on what actions affect your ranking, but there are five levels in the reputation system and players can move up and down the levels based on their actions. At level 0, there will be messages and warnings about player actions, and there may be repercussions such as not being able to queue for ranked matches. On the positive end of the scale, at levels 3 and 4, there will be rewards for players, although we don’t know what those rewards will be.
Streamer mode and menu redesign
A streamer mode arrives on the test server in Y6S1. This mode hides the player’s region, name, clearance level, profile picture, and other players from their lobby. This mode also adds a matchmaking delay to prevent queue sniping.
Rainbow Six Siege’s user interface and layout are also under review, which promises to make in-game menus faster and simpler. Matchmaking, ranking and the newcomer experience were also brought up during the panel, but Ubisoft did not provide any actual details on how it plans to change these parts of Siege.
Battle pass
The sixth year also kills the annual pass, integrating each season’s new operator into the seasonal pass at no additional cost. There is a weird issue is that the exclusivity window to access new operators is being extended, so if you don’t purchase the new Battle Pass you will have to wait two weeks before you can purchase the ‘operator with R6 credits or fame. .
Skins and crossovers
Finally, many changes have been made to how skins work in the game. Elite skins will soon be customizable so that you can mix pieces of an Elite skin with other skins you like, including the MVP animation and the gadget skin. Some new partner skins will also feature in Year 6, including a Zofia skin inspired by Jill Valentine from Resident Evil and what appears to be a collaboration with Rick & Morty. A new Elite skin for Kali is also coming with Y6S1. Finally, E3 2019 queen Ikumi Nakamura is working on cosmetics for year 6, which is unexpected, but very really cool.
Siege board game ???
Ubisoft slipped that into the end, but yes, there’s a Rainbow Six Siege board game in the works of Mythic Games, and it’s releasing this summer.
