He Who Remains has confirmed that Kang the Conqueror variants are coming to the MCU after Loki Season 1. Here are which Kang variants can appear and when.

Kang the Conqueror is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and here are all of the variations of the mighty Marvel villain that could appear in the future, and when that appearance could happen. When it came to predicting which character might be the next Thanos-level threat in Phase 4 of the MCU, Kang was among the most popular suggestions from Marvel fans. Avengers: EndgameTime travel set the stage for the time-skipping threat to conquer the universe to emerge before too long.

In a somewhat surprising move, Kang’s debut in the MCU took place in the Loki first season finale. Marvel Studios initially announced that Jonathan Majors would play Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, Loki included Majors as a character known as The One Who Remains. The episode explained that he was the last version of Kang to exist after defeating all other versions of himself and creating the Time Variance Authority and the Sacred Timeline to make sure his variants didn’t return. Just as Kang was featured, however, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) killed The One Who Remains.

Thanks to the variant concept Loki introduced in the MCU, other versions of Kang will continue to appear in the future. Whoever remains teased that if Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie thought he was evil, they should wait to meet his variants. This terrifying tease gives Marvel Studios the ability to use multiple versions of Kang in Phase 4 and beyond. Just as there were very different perspectives on Loki in the Disney + series, Kang has some incredible unique characterizations in the comics. Here are the Kang variants the MCU can use next, and when each of them might appear.

Kang the Conqueror

Jonathan Majors Loki Kang The Conqueror Variants

The main version of Kang that the MCU will likely use in the future is Kang the Conqueror. The comics have a “Prime Kang” from Earth-6311 who was born as Nathaniel Richards in the 30th century. Marvel has been going back and forth over the years to find out whether or not this version of Kang is a distant descendant of Reed Richards. For the purposes of the MCU, the main version of Kang the Conqueror could be simplified a bit and come closer to the origin revealed in He Who Remains. Loki. In this case, Kang will be a brilliant inventor and power-hungry conqueror of the far future who aims to rule a single universe, multiple universes, or even the entire multiverse.

Marvel Studios has already confirmed that Kang the Conqueror’s next MCU movie will be Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Whoever stays teased this version of himself in Loki season 1 saying he’s been called a lot before, with “Conqueror” among the titles he’s had. It’s also possible that Kang the Conqueror’s future MCU will also include an appearance in Loki season 2, as he could be the variant of Kang who now publicly directs the version of TVA that Loki is in. Both of these appearances can happen, but the MCU’s main Kang will also likely be around long afterward. He could be the main villain of a future Avengers movie, appear in The Fantastic Four as a way to confirm the connection to Reed Richards, and so on.

Rama-Tut

Rama-Tut is another of the many Kang variants that could appear in the MCU before too long. This version of Kang lives part of his life in ancient Egypt and becomes pharaoh after using his advanced technology to easily take control of the country. This time in Rama-Tut’s life brought him into conflict with the Egyptian god of the moon, Khonshu, for being worshiped by the locals instead of the true deity. Rama-Tut’s story continues in different ways from there, but this setup gives the MCU a few chances to include this variant of Kang. A trip to ancient Egypt could be in Eternals because it spans 7,000 years in the MCU timeline. This could give Marvel a chance to tease Rama-Tut’s presence in the past before he pursues other goals. There is also a slight chance that Rama-Tut is referenced in Moon knight so Khonshu explains some past struggles to Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac).

Immortus

One of the more powerful variants of Kang is known as the Immortus. This is a much older version of Kang who grew weary of conquering other universes and handed over control of his empire to Ravonna Renslayer. He briefly returns to his Rama-Tut days before discovering the kingdom known as Limbo. Immortus studies the pocket dimension and makes it his home, as it allows him to observe other times. He is then approached by the Time-Keepers to oversee a 7,000-year span and prevent other versions of Kang from causing too much distress to the proper flow of time. Immortus has interfered with the timeline on several occasions over the years to ensure that his future is met. Immortus could very well be the version of Kang that appears in Loki season 2. He could also be the prime contender to appear as the villain of Avengers 5.

Scarlet Centurion

Scarlet Centurion is another variant of Kang with the potential to appear in the future of the MCU. There are a few different versions of the character in the comics, but it’s traditionally a version of Kang who goes back in time in an attempt to conquer time using heroes as pawns. This brought him into conflict with the Avengers and forced them to fight other versions of themselves. Another version of Scarlet Centurion has repeatedly fought Squadron Supreme in Earth-712. There were rumors that the Supreme Squadron might be in Loki, but it never worked. If the team is in Loki season 2, Scarlet Centurion might just be the villain they face.

iron boy

Iron Lad is a very different version of Kang who seems destined to appear in the MCU. This version of Kang has traveled to the present day from the future to try and become a hero instead of following his destiny to become a time traveling warchief. Once in the present, Kang traveled to the Avengers mansion to seek protection and new allies. However, the Avengers have been disbanded. This led him to find files on potential young heroes who could become new Avengers and recruit them. Kang started calling himself Iron Lad and formed the Young Avengers with Wiccan, Hulkling, and Patriot. Marvel Studios is quickly bringing the members of the Young Avengers back together in Phase 4, so Iron Lad might not be too far away if a Young Avengers a Disney + movie or show is being announced, as is widely expected.

Mr. Griffon

Mr. Gryphon Kang attacks Kamala Khan and Miles Morales in Marvel Comics

The MCU could also use the other variant of Kang known as Mister Gryphon. This version of Kang got stuck in the 21st century due to a problem with the time flow. He took the pseudonym of Mister Gryphon, a successful businessman and CEO of Qeng Enterprises. This variant of Kang bought Stark Tower, something of a Loki Episode 5 The Teased Easter Egg was also attempted in the MCU timeline. If Mister Gryphon is also stuck in the main MCU timeline, it might appear in something like Armor wars as a villain trying to use Tony Stark’s tech for his own evil gains.
