Old

M Night Shyamalan worked his way out of a ditch of his own creation by reinventing himself as a low-budget B-movie guy producing Devil and then directing The Visit and Split after a series of inflated flops. But his worst awe-inspiring excesses have risen again with Glass, a misguided sequel to two of his other films. Hoping this new one, based on a scary short story about people who age too fast, takes him off the edge. It sounds intriguing! More Vicky Krieps!

Paramount’s mountain of entertainment

To make its case as the latest entry in the streaming war, Paramount +, which launched on March 4, brings together its flagship talent (mostly from CBS, as well as other framework agreements) atop the logo. The gathering on Paramount’s ‘Mountain of Entertainment’ features Stephen Colbert, Gayle King, Jeff Probst of Survivor, Catherine O’Hara of Schitt’s Creek, Dora the Explorer, DJ Khaled and current Frozen Party DJ Spongebob Squarepants.

Lil Nas X “defies logic”

Lil Nas X, star of arguably the nicest commercial of last year (a dance-off Doritos with Sam Elliott and Sam Elliott’s mustache) returns with less nerve this year for Logitech. The Old Town Road singer, sporting a series of technicolor cuts, boasts of futuristic designers who “defy logic” in images from several young artists, illustrators, an incredible makeup artist and musicians. I’m not sure Logitech, my 2005 webcam brand, could be cool, but these people sure are.

M & Ms are the new card to get out of prison

Did you hit someone’s plane seat? Did you explain the concept of mansplaining? Did you call someone a Karen? Named Karen? Nothing a packet of M & Ms can’t fix, according to Dan Levy of Schitts Creek and a kidnapped and soon eaten green M&M.

American poet for young people Amanda Gorman, 22, whose performance of her poem The Hill We Climb drew near universal praise during President Joe Biden’s inauguration last month, recited another stunning original work in the honor of three heroes: Trimaine Davis, educator, Suzie Dorner, a nurse, and James Martin, a Navy veteran. The NFL has named the trio of honorary Super Bowl captains.

Poetry at the Super Bowl is a feat for art and our country, because it means that we think imaginatively about human connection even when we feel siled. I will pay tribute to 3 heroes who illustrate the best of this effort. Here for them, to poetry, and to a #Super Bowl not like the others 💛

The game is heavily sponsored by this YouTube doc and without wanting to sound like a Negative Nancy, here is our two star review!

Two contrasting styles, two very different voices, an unlikely Super Bowl pair – country star Eric Church and R&B queen Jazmine Sullivan came together for a catchy rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that had both literally pumped their fists , in a crossover genre that serves as yet another NFL message on American unity.

Raya and the last dragon

Disney’s first drop of the night for another movie, they’re giving a Mulan-style cross-platform release with Disney + customers able to spend silly money to watch a movie at home that was supposed to be in the theaters. It sounds like lower-level Disney, more like The Good Dinosaur, but it’s another vital step in a more diverse direction with a voice cast including Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong and Sandra. Oh.
