Everything Dan Lanning said at preseason camp in Georgia

It doesn’t happen often, but an assistant coach from Georgia spoke to reporters on Tuesday. In fact, the UGA beat will have the opportunity to speak to two of them this week and today it was the turn of defensive coordinator Dan Lanning.

He is entering his fourth season with the program and his third as defensive coordinator. The Bulldogs have fielded an elite run defense over the past two seasons, but results have been mixed when it comes to passing play. They’ve struggled mightily in this area in their two losses in 2020. Lanning had the opportunity to address that and more on Tuesday.

It was strewn with questions ranging from the presence of Will Mushcamp to the need to adapt to modern offenses. Below, Dawgs247 provides everything Lanning had to say in an uncut format.

Coaching staff, now with Muschamp in the mix …
“It’s really a blessing for us to have this experience on our side of the ball. The good thing about our group is that there is no egos and everyone is pulling the rope in the same direction. When you can add a guy like coach Muschamp, as well as the additional coaches that we have in our staff, it’s obviously an advantage for me and each of our players.
